Slippery slopes

Yosemite's rushing waters are not its only treacherous flows. The extreme conditions of freeze, melt and flood can even destabilise the rocks over time so that what was once solid becomes fluid and succumbs to gravity. What was once a road becomes a reminder that although we build roads to traverse it, we have not tamed this land.

Yosemite has reclaimed this road and will not give it back. The mountainside is still shifting so the roadway will not be cleared. A new road will be constructed nearby instead. No more skateboarders will travel this way.
