Going-to-the-sun road construction

Another cool engineering feature of the Going-to-the-sun road is the way that tunnels have windows.

At certain points in the road it was necessary to tunnel through the rock to create a passageway. In such cases the builders thoughtfully provided a walkway and viewing platforms along the length of the tunnel so that the view from these dramatic points in the landscape was not wasted. Well, it was wasted on me because of the smoke, but you know what I mean.

Rather than show you another photograph of smoke, I thought I'd show you the archway leading out to the viewing platform that I was standing on. Nice, isn't it?
